Games like Clash Royale: how Brainrot Arena: Card Duel compares
Full disclosure: we make Brainrot Arena: Card Duel, so weigh what we say about our own game with that in mind. Everything we say about other games sticks to what you can check in their store listings.
If you like Clash Royale's quick, real-time card battles and want something in the same spirit, there are a few directions to go: games that follow the lane-and-tower formula closely, card games that borrow its three-minute pace, and tower-defense hybrids. This page starts with the game we know best, Brainrot Arena: Card Duel, side by side with Clash Royale, then lists other games like Clash Royale that are worth trying.
What makes a game feel like Clash Royale
Lots of games get called a Clash Royale alternative. The ones that actually feel like it share most of these:
- Real time, no turns. Both players act at once, and reaction speed matters.
- An 8-card deck, with a small hand that cycles as you play.
- A regenerating resource that every card costs, so every play is a trade.
- Lanes and towers. You attack and defend structures on a shared map.
- Short matches, around three minutes, so one more game is always tempting.
- A trophy ladder that matches you with players of your level and unlocks new arenas.

What feels the same
If you have played Clash Royale, your instincts transfer almost one to one.
- Deckbuilding. Eight cards have to cover tanks, a win condition, splash, air defense and spells. Leave a hole and a good opponent finds it.
- Defend, then counter-push. The troops that survive a defense become a cheap attack your opponent has to answer.
- Resource trades. Answer a 5-Aura push with 3 Aura and you are 2 ahead. Most battles are won on trades like that, not on one big play.
- The lane war. Two lanes means split pushes, punishing the other lane when your opponent overcommits, and choosing which tower to pressure.
What is different
- Aura, not elixir. Same job, different name, and the numbers will feel familiar: you start with 5, cap at 10, get double Aura in the last minute and triple Aura at the end of overtime.
- Every card has a signature twist. Tralalero Tralala swims across the river anywhere. Brr Brr Patapim hooks flyers to his feet. Lirilì Larilà's clock slows enemy troops and defenses. Gorlock strikes a pose that makes nearby enemy troops target her. Sigma Boy grows with every kill, up to five times. Trippi Troppi heal and frenzy when a sibling falls.
- Most brainrot troops shout their own names when they land. Tung tung tung.
- Italian brainrot humor everywhere. A meme poster after every battle, boxes called Lowkey, Drip, Bussin and Rizz, and an Aura Farm trophy road.
- A Win Box for your ladder wins, opened on the spot, with no unlock timers.
- Smaller and newer. 62 cards and 10 arenas, iPhone only for now, and no clans.
Switching over from Clash Royale
A few things catch experienced players out in their first battles:
- Read the twist before you play a card. A familiar role can hide a surprise. The card details screen in the game shows what each card does and its stats.
- Don't trust the bridges. Tralalero Tralala swims across the river anywhere, so a lane you thought was safe is not. Keep a ground defender ready for either side.
- Bring anti-air from day one. Bombardiro Crocodilo is in every starter deck, so expect to meet a flying tank early.
- Stuns, freezes and slows are everywhere. Tung Tung Tung Sahur's drum, Frigo Camelo's freeze, Lirilì Larilà's clock and Chimpanzini Bananini's banana peel all stop or slow attacks. Damage that ramps up over time needs protecting.
- Open every Win Box right away. There are no unlock timers, so there is nothing to gain by saving them.
Bring your Clash Royale instincts: role map
Card names are new, but the archetypes are familiar. Here is where to start if you already think in roles.
| If you like playing | Try | Why |
|---|---|---|
| An air tank | Bombardiro Crocodilo | 3,480 hitpoints in the air, buildings only, and four Bombombini Gusini when it falls. |
| A slow building tank | La Vaca Saturno Saturnita | 4,100 hitpoints, the most of any troop, and she sheds moons as she takes damage. |
| A cheap freeze tank | Frigo Camelo | 3 Aura, walks at towers, freezes everything around him when he breaks, towers included. |
| A hook bruiser | Brr Brr Patapim | Hooks light troops from up to 7 tiles away, flyers too, and drags them in. |
| Cycle | Chimpanzini Bananini | 2 Aura, very fast, and his banana peel stuns on death. |
| A swarm | Trippi Troppi | Three bodies for 2 Aura that heal and frenzy as they fall. |
| Pull-and-spin splash | Ballerina Cappuccina | A 360-degree spin plus a whirlpool that drags ground troops in. |
| A control mini-tank | Tung Tung Tung Sahur | Knockback on every hit and a drum that stuns the crowd every 2.5 s. |
| A two-target duelist | Cappuccino Assassino | Cuts two enemies per swing for 3 Aura. |
Every card in the game, with costs and roles, is in the Brainrot Arena card list.
